Henry Rowlands: The Detox Project

Henry Rowlands learned at an early age the importance of organic farming and sustainable agriculture. His mother started one of the first GMO Free public pressure groups, GMFree Wales, in the 1990s. In our interview with Henry today (interview link at the bottom of the page), he candidly talks about how he was motivated from early on in his life and what led to a deep interest in issues related to GMOs and their related pesticides.

Formerly a journalist in Eastern Europe, he moved on to set up one of the world’s most successful sustainable agriculture online news sources, Sustainable Pulse, which focuses on GMOs and pesticides.  Since 2012, Sustainable Pulse has grown to now have a regular readership of over 100,000 people per month from over 125 countries.

Sustainable Pulse is also involved with a number of reference projects. These include GMO Evidence, which is an online library of independent scientific research from around the world. Another associated project is the Global GMO Free Coalition, which brings together over 100 organizations from 6 continents with a total partner membership of over 4.5 million people.  Henry shared with us today what these organizations are all about and how we can use them to further our education. We discussed the mounds of evidence showing harm that is accumulating and how people can access this information at gmoevidence.com.

We spoke with Henry about his latest project, The Detox Project. This project brings awareness to the public by testing for toxic chemicals in the body at a very personal level. The Detox Project is available to anyone, currently in the USA or Canada (coming soon to other countries) who wants to test their urine, water or breast milk for glyphosate (the active ingredient in RoundUp) and the most widely used herbicide in the world. Henry stated that soon they were going to be expanding to test over 125 other toxic chemicals. He feels that people have the right to know what is in their bodies and by getting tested, people will have an accurate way of testing their diet and showing the reality of what they are eating. So far, they have tested well over 1,000 people and hope to expand that to the millions in the future. If you would like to be tested click here.
