Are You Prepared?
If there was an emergency tomorrow, would you be prepared? Are you prepared for the unexpected like a power outage or a natural disaster? It is estimated that 71% of Americans would not be prepared and 48% have no emergency supplies. While many natural disasters are not catastrophic, they can leave you without power, water, access to food or medical supplies. When the power and cell service go out, your credit cards won’t work–so having cash on hand may be essential! Another thing to think about is having a back-up generator!
What we have learned from Hurricanes Helene and Milton in the last couple of weeks reminds us of the importance of being prepared. Just recently, Hurricane Milton, the most destructive storm to hit the Tampa area in a century—left more than 3 million without power and at least 10 people dead. Hurricane Helene was devasting for the Ashville, NC area where many were not prepared and many lost their lives.
I think sometimes there is a mentality of “oh this won’t happen to me.” But it might! This article is not intended to instill fear in anyone. It is never beneficial to do anything out of fear. However, it is beneficial to honor yourself and your family by being prepared for an unusual or natural disaster. Are you prepared?
