Food Integrity Now – E22 – Jean-Michel Cousteau on the health of the Gulf.
Over 2 million gallons of toxic dispersants dumped in the Gulf and the FDA is telling us the seafood is safe. Is it really? Jean-Michel Cousteau, son of ocean explorer Jacques Cousteau and founder of The Ocean Futures Society, joined us on the show to give his perspective on the tragic oil spill and the current state of the Gulf’s health. Mr. Cousteau gives a refreshing perspective on the event, with hopes that this tragedy can serve to awaken people to the fact that deep changes need to be made to our way of life. There are many unknowns as to the long-term environmental impact of this mix of toxic dispersants and oil that permeated the Gulf’s ecosystem. Mr. Cousteau and his team are hard at work to give us answers, and we look forward to having him back on the show soon.
