Matt Powers: Regenerative Soil
Today I spoke with Matt Powers. Matt is an author, educator, seed saver, gardener, and entrepreneur focused on radically transforming the entire K-12 education system through the collegiate system as well as the economy such that it aligns with regenerative science, natural principles, and permaculture ethics. We spoke with him about his new book, Regenerative Soil.
In the book Regenerative Soil, The Science and Solutions he covers soil management, remediation, generation, and the science from the biological, chemistry, and biochemistry perspectives and all connected to the natural farming methods, so we can see and calculate those methods for and at scale in all climates and situations from gardening to farming to large-scale remediation.
Regenerative Soil is a cutting edge book on the science and solutions on how to understand and implement these techniques to grow the most nutrient dense food imaginable. The science behind his solutions is there and it makes sense–nature always does. Better soil, better plants, better health!

Some of the areas he discussed today are the use of Biochar, EM1 and the Johnson and Su method of composting using pipes in the compost instead of turning it! This is also covered in the book, including DYI recipes. Amazing!
Matt is so passionate about his work and I guarantee you will learn something new to help you in your garden or on your farm. Learn more about Matt at The Permaculture Student. Watch the video above or listen to the audio only below. You are in for a treat!
