Three Generations Stand Up to Monsanto at Annual Shareholders’ Meeting

Rachel Parent of Kids Right to Know, Anne Temple of Moms Across America (standing in for Zen Honeycutt, Founder), and Beth Savitt of the SHAKA Movement Maui, representing three generations, took on Monsanto at their Annual Shareholders’ Meeting on Friday, January 29. The initiative to attend the meeting at Monsanto’s headquarters in St. Louis was organized by Moms Across America, a coalition of unstoppable moms whose motto is “unstoppable moms, healthy kids.” Their purpose for attending the Shareholders’ Meeting was to inform the shareholders of the dangers of GMOs and glyphosate (RoundUp) and present the board with a binder full of studies outlining the harmful effects of glyphosate and to insist that they stop using this harmful chemical. They also wanted to address Hugh Grant, CEO of Monsanto and other shareholders and ask them to change directions with their use of chemicals that are harming human health and the environment, ask Monsanto to disclose their financial lobbying and charitable contribution information, request that they post their studies regarding glyphosate on their website, and to inform their shareholders of the gross misuse of their money in fighting GMO labeling. Beth Savitt also spoke about the lawsuit in Maui in which the SHAKA Movement filed an appeal with the Ninth Circuit Court, seeking an evidentiary hearing before continuing an injunction that delays the implementation of the Maui GMO moratorium.

I spoke with these incredible three women who represent three generations about their purpose for attending the meeting and what transpired during their encounters with Hugh Grant and other shareholders. To listen to this inspiring interview, click here or on the link at the bottom of the page.
