Urgent: Protect Our Rights to Nutritional Guidance
Many seek advice and counsel from nutritionists, health coaches, wellness coaches, functional medicine coaches, and others who have become proficient in assisting individuals with their diet and lifestyle choices to become healthy and live a more joyful life. We need to protect our rights as individuals to seek advice from whatever source we choose!
As a holistic nutritionist, I have studied for years to learn about nutrition and educated myself in order to assist individuals about their diet and lifestyle choices–and some of those results have been life-changing. Now, HB 1220 threatens those rights and we need to stop it in Colorado now! Once bills like this are passed, they are then introduced in other states, which could be catastrophic for the natural health industry. They want HB 1220 to pass so that “registered dietitians” would be the only ones allowed to give nutritional advice! Big Pharma is trying to control the health narrative and continue with their sick care agenda and pill-pushing!
The vote on this bill is on WEDNESDAY so please act NOW. We cannot allow HB 1220 to pass.
Protect Your Right to Personalized Nutrition Guidance in Colorado!
Your legislature intends to prevent everyone except “registered dietitians” from providing individualized nutrition guidance to you and your family. This action means there will be only one active provider for every 7,500 Coloradans — while putting thousands of other qualified nutrition professionals out of work.
That makes no sense.
Choosing nutrition guidance for your family is your personal decision–not the dietitians’ lobbyists. Please pause your day and call your legislators right now to protect our rights!
Tell Them to STOP House Bill 1220
- I’m calling about House Bill 1220, the Dietitian Licensing Act. This bill declares that individualized nutrition guidance can only be provided by a dietitian, which will restrict the ability of my trusted nutritionist to help me with my personal wellness needs.
- The so-called ‘exemptions’ in HB 1220 will prevent access to “medical nutrition therapy.” That means this bill effectively BANS many qualified professionals from providing important nutrition services such as:
Creating “food and nutrition priorities. goals, and individualized action plans and general physical activity guidance” that “promotes health and wellness”
• With only one active dietitian for every 7500 Coloradans and even fewer in rural and underserved communities, the government should not restrict access to individualized nutrition guidance. Reducing the number of nutrition professionals will only result in increased barriers and costs.
• Please STOP this bill. Don’t let them meddle in my health and wellness decisions. Don’t let them eliminate my access to nutrition education. Don’t ruin the livelihoods of qualified professionals. OPPOSE this dietitian Power grab.
