Dr. Tom O’Bryan: The Autoimmune Fix
Dr. Thomas O’Bryan is an internationally recognized and sought-after speaker and workshop leader specializing in wheat, its impact on health, and the development of autoimmune diseases as they occur inside and outside of the intestines. Dr. O’Bryan is considered a ‘Sherlock Holmes’ for chronic disease and metabolic disorders, teaching that the underlying mechanisms that trigger the development of chronic disease are the key to health. Food Integrity Now spoke with the doctor today about his book, The Autoimmune Fix, How to Keep Hidden Autoimmune Damage that Keeps You Sick, Fat and Tired Before it Turns into Disease.
Dr. O’Bryan shared valuable information with me about things like “predicted autoimmunity” where there is actually a way that you can find out before you get sick if you are on the autoimmune spectrum. Once you know, you can make different choices to change your diet and lifestyle now before the disease manifests. He explained “molecular mimicry” and why you need to know about it. He talked about several of the different tests you can have done to find out what elevated antibodies you have to certain foods and what that really means. He discussed several different tests you can have done that can give you a comprehensive evaluation of your health. This information will be life changing to many. His book, the Autoimmune Fix, is a comprehensive, effective, and easy to implement plan to address autoimmune disease and keep disease at bay.
One of the things he shared is that wheat cannot be digested by any human being and there is science to back up that statement. Does that mean that everyone will get sick from wheat, it does not. However, Dr. O’Bryan feels that if you eat wheat it may be just a matter of time until it starts causing problems in your body. Another important piece of information he spoke about is that only a small percentage of the population has true Celiac disease but a large percentage of the population has gluten intolerance. He explained that just because you don’t have digestive issues with gluten, there are many other ways the symptoms can present. Again, the information he provided us today is timely and almost critical to know so that you can protect yourself from autoimmune disease.
